Virtual instruction programs provide some elements of student control over time, place, path or pace.ī. Virtual Instruction Program: A program implemented by a county board or multicounty partnership that provides a full-time online or blended program of instruction for students enrolled in any composition of grades kindergarten through twelve. Virtual school providers, including developers, managers, instructors, and facilitators must adhere to state and federal privacy laws.Ī. The Superintendent shall establish guidelines and operating procedures to ensure the virtual school program complies with State law. ![]() The eligible student may participate in any co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of that school, but is subject to the same participation requirements imposed on a traditional student attending the school.įaculty in the Virtual Learning Program must hold a valid West Virginia teaching license or certification granted by the Office of Educator Effectiveness and Licensure. Assessment protocols for students in grade levels not included in the state assessment program will be determined by the Superintendent.ĭistrict and/or school staff as designated by the Superintendent will monitor student progress and performance.Īn eligible student participating in the Virtual Learning Program shall be considered to be attending the school in the attendance area in which he/she resides. The assessment results of students will be included in the assessment results of the school and/or district. Virtual learners shall be assessed annually using the West Virginia state assessment at the grade level in which they are enrolled. Students may engage in coursework aligned to West Virginia standards and West Virginia Board of Education requirements toward completion of the K12 program. The virtual learning policy of Mingo County Schools establishes provisions for delivering instruction to eligible K-12 learners in a full-time or blended virtual environment. The purpose of the Mingo County Schools Virtual Learning Program is to enhance access and equity in public education.
